This document describes how the Speble service (the “Service”) processes the data of people using the app.
Data controller
The data controller is Kamil Zieliński, contact: kontakt@speble.com.
What data we process
- Local content — uploaded EPUB files, reading progress and reader settings are stored only in your browser (IndexedDB and localStorage). Without an account they do not leave your device.
- Interface settings — e.g. the chosen theme stored in localStorage under the
speble-themekey. - Fetching articles — when you paste a link, the URL is sent to our service, which fetches and cleans the article content to show it in reading mode. We do not use the addresses for profiling.
- Account data (optional) — if you sign up, we process your email address, an account identifier and the data you choose to sync: books (EPUB files and their metadata), reading progress and exercise progress.
- Technical logs — the server may record standard request information (IP address, time, browser type) for security and diagnostics.
Account and cloud sync
Creating an account is optional — the app works fully locally without one. Sign-in is passwordless: we email you a one-time link and code. The authentication and cloud database are provided by Supabase (Supabase Inc.), acting as our processor.
When you are signed in, books you add (up to 10), your reading progress and your exercise progress are stored in the cloud so you can use them across devices. Access to this data is restricted to your account. Signing out removes the synced data from the device you sign out on. The legal basis is the performance of the service (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
You can delete individual books in the app at any time. To delete your account and all cloud data, contact us at kontakt@speble.com.
Statistics and performance
We use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights (provider: Vercel Inc.) to collect anonymous, aggregate traffic and performance statistics. They use no cookies, store nothing in local storage, and do not profile or track users across sites. Vercel acts as a processor here, and the basis is our legitimate interest (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Purposes and legal bases
We process data to provide the service (art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and to keep it secure and working correctly (art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest).
Data retention
Content and settings remain on your device until you delete them in the app or clear your browser data. Technical logs are kept for as long as needed for their purpose.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, restrict processing and object to it, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (in Poland: the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, UODO). Data stored locally you can remove yourself at any time.
Cookies and local storage
Details are described in the Cookies Policy.
